How to Share MTN Data
Accessing the service is simple. You can either dial *321*2# or *312*8# on your phone.
Data Transfer: Now, you can move data from your current balance to your family and friends. Just dial *312*Phone number*Data amount# or text Transfer<space>Phone number<space>data amount is 312.
The maximum data transfer limit per day is 5 GB.
Purchase Data for a Friend: You can buy a specific data bundle for a special friend, and the cost will be deducted from your airtime. Just dial *312*Bundle Activation Code*Beneficiary’s phone number.
Request data from a friend. In need of data urgently? You can ask a special friend for data. Simply dial *312*7*3#.

What amount of data can I transfer at a time?
You have various options for data transfer sizes: 50MB, 100MB, 200MB, 500MB, 1GB, 2GB, 3GB, and 5GB. Remember, to ensure a successful transfer, make sure you always have a minimum of 50MB remaining in your data balance after each transfer.
How many times can I transfer data in a day?
You have the flexibility to transfer multiple times throughout the day, but keep in mind that the total amount you can transfer within a 24-hour period is capped at 5 GB.
How many times can I buy data for my loved ones?
Feel free to purchase the data plan for your loved ones as many times as you want, as long as there is enough credit in your account.
How many times can I send a request for data?
You can request data up to 5 times daily, and there is no limit on how many times you can receive data requests.
Will I be able to receive requests for data if I have active DND service?
If your line has full DND active, you won’t be getting any data requests.
What are the types of bundles I can gift a friend?
You are allowed to move data between your regular access bundles, such as daily, weekly, and monthly plans. But please note that data cannot be transferred from specific customized or tariff-based bundles like XtraValue and XtraSpecial bundles.
Can I transfer data from my Xtrabyte balance to a friend?
Sorry, but you’re unable to share data with a friend using your Xtrabyte balance. Data can only be transferred from your active access bundle plans.
How long can I have a pending data request?
You will have 48 hours to view and respond to a request in your pending request menu. However, if you have multiple requests, you will only be able to see the 10 most recent ones.
I just purchased a monthly bundle, but I still have unused data in my daily and weekly bundle balances that will soon expire. Can I transfer the daily and weekly bundles to my friend?
Unfortunately, you can only transfer from the bundle with the most recent validity period, and the expiration date will remain the same on the recipient’s line.
I have 5MB, 25MB, and 40MB remaining in my daily, weekly, and monthly balances, respectively. Will I be able to transfer my combined data balance to a friend?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to merge your total balance for transfers. You can only transfer from the data plan with enough balance available.
Can data be transferred to me if I still have sufficient data in my line?
Your active data bundle will be used up after the data you received runs out.
If I have multiple data bundles active and receive a data gift, which bundle will deplete first?
If you happen to receive a data gift while having multiple data bundles active on your line, the data bundle with the shortest validity will be utilized first. For instance, if you have a 30-day bundle plan and receive a gift of a 1-day plan, the 1-day plan will be consumed before the 30-day plan.
Can I enjoy bonus offers on the data bundle I am gifted?
You can only benefit from the bonus included in the purchased bundle if you meet the eligibility requirements. However, you will not receive any bonus for data that is transferred to you.
Will I be charged an additional cost for using MTN’s Gift Data service?
No, you will solely incur the cost of the data plan if you are purchasing it on behalf of a friend.
Will my gifted data automatically renew on the day of expiration?
The bundle purchased for you can be auto-renewed by texting the opt-in keyword to 312. However, the transferred bundle will not auto-renew and will remain valid until the expiration date.
Will I be able to rollover my unused gifted data bundle?
Unused main data bundles can be rolled over if another bundle is purchased or received before the current one expires or within the grace period after expiration. However, data bonuses and transferred data cannot be rolled over.
Will I be able to set MTN’s Gift Data service to automatically gift beneficiaries data bundles?
No, you can solely present your loved ones with a data bundle by personally accessing the service.
How do I check the balance of my gifted bundle?
You can conveniently monitor your data bundle balance through the following methods:
1. SMS: Simply send a text message with the number 2 to 323.
2. USSD: Dial *323*4# on your phone to access your data bundle balance.
3. myMTN NG App: Use the myMTN NG App to easily check your data bundle balance.
